River Springs Charter School is a 501(c)3, non profit public benefit corporation.  Our Governing Board serves as the corporate board of directors and is governed in its operations and actions by the corporate bylaws of River Springs Charter School, which are consistent with the terms of the charter, the Charter Schools Act, and all other applicable laws.  The Governing Board has final authority for all aspects of the school’s operation and educational programs.  The Governing Board’s primary mission is to ensure that students are achieving success and that the school’s mission guides all decision-making.  Additional roles and responsibilities of the Governing Board include but are not limited to:

• Finance:
  Monitor fiscal solvency and management
  Approve budgets/spending and fiscal policies
• Educational Program:
  Monitor student performance.  Ensure curriculum aligns with the school's mission
• Personnel:
  Hire/evaluate Executive Director
  Approve personnel policies
• Facilities:
  Enter into financing and building contracts
  Approve construction and remodeling of facilities

The Governing Board meets monthly (except during the month of July), rotating meeting locations to include all RSCS site locations so that all staff and parents have the ability to attend.  In addition, every effort is made to make teleconference available at each board meeting for parents and staff who are unable to attend in person.
