Foreign Language As California’s importance in the global economy grows, so does the importance of learning a language other than English during the kindergarten-through-grade-twelve educational experience. Acquiring a second language sharpens students’ intellectual skills, increases their earning power, and broadens their cultural understanding. Every student deserves to be able to take advantage of these opportunities. California students often have a unique opportunity in this regard because our state is home to native speakers of many languages other than English. Students studying other languages can capitalize on diversity by interacting with native speakers. Check in your local community groups, scouting, sports leagues, and church groups - you may find someone who is anxious to help your student learn more about a different culture, including the language and customs. Your ES can also help you find many different kinds of curriculum to support your student’s learning including Rosetta Stone software and other on-line programs. In addition, we offer high school classes at some of our academy sites and through our Renaissance On-line program (ROLLIE) to support your student’s acquisition and mastery of Spanish.
