Our History
River Springs Charter School (RSCS) is a new school with a seven year history. We began as a grass roots homeschool movement called Eagles Peak Charter School. Due to the phenomenal numbers of Riverside County students enrolling, combined with changes in legislation, it became desirable to open a separate Riverside-based charter school. River Springs opened its doors for the 2006-2007 school year, after approval by the Riverside County Board of Education (RCBE) in 2005. Riverside County is experiencing growth, and the RCBE recognized the need for high quality parent choice programs to augment the traditional public school options. In addition, there were many homeschooled students in Riverside County who were served by out-of-county charters prior to River Springs’ existence.
Because our charter school provides not only homeschooling but a wide range of hybrid classroom/homestudy options, the approval of our charter provides tremendous service to Riverside County parents, as well as homeschool parents in our contiguous counties of San Bernardino, Orange, San Diego and Imperial. Although we are now a large school of more than 3000 students, our dedication to “grass roots” development remains strong. Our goal is to find out what type of educational experience our families want and figure out a way to provide it. Towards this end, we are constantly developing and refining our programs.
